Confirmation

Worship is an important part of Confirmation. Students are encouraged to attend regularly with their families or fellow confirmands, paying attention to the prayers, music, Scripture, and sermon. They may also have opportunities to participate in worship leadership throughout the year.

Faith is something we live out, not just something we learn about. Throughout the year, confirmands will explore ways to serve others through mission education, service projects, and hands-on opportunities.

Students will be introduced to spiritual practices that help them grow in awareness of God’s presence in everyday life. These may include prayer, Scripture reading, journaling, reflection, and other practices they can try throughout the year.

Each confirmand should bring a Bible to class each week. We recommend a student-friendly study Bible in either the NRSV or CEB translation, though students are welcome to use whichever Bible is easiest for them to read and use regularly.

The Confirmation retreat fee is $300, which helps cover transportation, lodging, meals, supplies, program costs, and other activities throughout the year. Scholarships are available, and cost should not be a barrier to participation.

Confirmation is a shared experience, and regular attendance helps students get the most out of the year. Students are expected to attend classes and events as consistently as possible, with make-up assignments available when occasional conflicts come up.
