Aspecial
inspiration is ours as we meet in this sacred place
of worship, historically worthy of our careful
appreciation.
In 1862, First Presbyterian
Church of Lake Forest, which had been organized
in 1859, met in its first building,"a Gothic
design frame cottage in the form of a cross, with
a pointed roof, two low spires on either side of
the front door, and windows of clear glass!'
In 1887, the present building
was erected on the same spot-the corner of Deerpath
and Sheridan Road. It consisted only of the present
sanctuary and the adjoining Sunday School room.
The windows along the side walls were of clear
glass, which may have been muted in some way. A
circular or rose window in twelve sections of a
vivid steel blue was placed over the chancel. |
