The beliefs of our Reformed background include:
God is the creator of the universe
God grants the gift of grace that enables us to gain the faith necessary for
salvation
Jesus Christ is God’s son and God’s presence on
earth Forgiveness of sin is made possible by the crucifixion of Jesus
The Holy Spirit is the presence of God in the world and in our
lives
The Holy Spirit constantly illuminates Truth, thus admitting different understandings
of the Confessions of Faith
The Church is a universal company of followers of Christ: clergy
and lay people make decisions about the church The Bible is the sole authority
for faith and doctrine Worship is centered on preaching and sacraments: Baptism
and the Lord’s Supper Confession is voluntary and made directly to God
No Christian church has exclusive possession of the church government authorized
by Christ
There is not a strict set of beliefs which unites Presbyterians or separates
them from other followers of Jesus Christ
