ON-GOING OPPORTUNITIES

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
A program to build houses with volunteer labor and donations of services and goods for needy Lake County residents. We have helped to complete one house a year since 1995
Volunteers work one Saturday a month on an as-needed basis (no construction skills necessary)
Tasks are completed under the supervision of a professional builder

P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter)
Seasonal overnight shelter, meals and advocacy at a church in Waukegan
Second and fifth Tuesdays of the month; October through April
On site worker shifts are 6:30 – 11:00 pm; 11:00pm – 3:00 am; 3:00 – 6:15am
Donations of food are needed; request drop off at church by 5:00pm

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN
Proceeds from the annual rummage sale are carefully distributed to local, national and world agencies. Each agency receives a visit annually.

READING POWER
Help children be successful at whatever reading level they may be; helping them early before they have a chance to fail. Students are in first through fifth grades; training is required and continual
Monday through Friday, tutoring one day a week

RUMMAGE SALE
A large sale is held for one day in early May; all profits are distributed to area agencies
Monday and Thursday all through the year, sorting rummage
One week before the sale, set up help is needed every day
A smaller sale is held in the fall for one day

HANDS-ON MINISTRY
Projects for all ages to assist local missions supported by the church

Dinner is served at different churches all year; we serve at a church in Waukegan
Third Friday of every month
On site food preparers, table setters, servers, etc are needed from 4:30 – 7:00 pm

An annual week long trip to a site in need of home repair in June
Sponsored by Senior High Youth Ministry and open to freshmen – seniors in high school
Adult supervisors are selected to accompany the youth
