Hands
On Mission
The
purpose of the Hands-on
Subcommittee of Mission is to partner with the other First
Church Mission Committees and support their work by
providing project management skills and assistance with
funding and staffing for one-time hands-on projects. By
extending our mission work beyond financial support we are
committed to living the Gospel.
Current
Focus: We support hands-on
projects identified by the various First Church Mission
Committees.
The Hands-on Subcommittee solicits special, one-time
projects from the other Mission Committees. The committees
team up to determine the feasibility, timing, and resource
requirements for each project. The Hands-on Sub-Committee
will also decide the amount of funding that can be provided
for each project.
As a project moves forward, the Hands-on Subcommittee takes
the lead role in communicating with the organization that
benefits from the project. The Hands-on Sub-Committee
manages the timing and tasks through a project’s
completion. Both committees involved work together to make
sure that a project is adequately staffed.
We need you! The projects taken on by this
sub-committee rarely require advanced construction or
handyman skills so there is opportunity for all...
regardless of how many thumbs you have. If you are one of
the “handy” ones, all the better to have you join us.
Project timing is very random. Projects tend to be weekend
activities and include painting, cleaning, furniture
assembly and movement, minor household repairs, etc. Most
projects can benefit from the strong backs and enthusiasm of
high school students.
The skill that is most needed is the one that helps you help
others!
