Sunday Morning
Nursery Care 8:15 – 12:15
Professional, loving childcare is available in The Ark every
Sunday morning for infants and toddlers up to 36 months old.
The Ark is a safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate
space for children to begin experiencing God’s love through
the care of our church family. We have a crib room and a
toddler room where age groups may be separated for their
safety and enjoyment. Pagers are available so parents can be
notified if their children need them. Please note that we
are peanut-free. Please register your children in advance
or complete a form when you arrive so that we may be aware
of your child’s needs.

Worship 9:00 and 11:00
We welcome children of all ages into our worshipping
community every Sunday in the sanctuary. The beginning
portion of the service is planned especially to encourage
families to worship together. Children may stay for the
entire service or may leave with their teachers for Sunday
school after the Word for Children at 9:15. Bible storybooks
and children’s bulletins or worship activity sheets are
available to help guide the children through their morning
of worship.

Sunday School 9:15 – 10:15 September - first
Sunday of June
Sunday school
is offered for children ages 3 – 7th grade. Children may
attend the Sunday school class that corresponds with
their current school grade. Sunday school incorporates
bible-based curriculum, seasonal lessons and activities,
mission and outreach opportunities, singing programs,
fellowship events, and worship opportunities. Grades
1-4 rotate through 4-week units that allow them to learn
the same Bible story through drama, science, art,
mission, storytelling and music. Grades 5-7 begin to
tackle more difficult subjects as they discuss the
issues in their lives and learn how following God can
help them make good choices.
What enables our Sunday school to carry out its vision
are the many dedicated volunteer teachers in our church
family. There are at least two teachers in each
classroom. Parents are welcome to visit the classrooms
and all parents are asked to volunteer during the year,
either by teaching on a regular basis or by assisting
the teachers with a one-time event.

Confirmation
What is Confirmation?
“Confirmation at First Presbyterian Church of Lake
Forest is a nine month program encompassing a study of
God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Sacraments and the church;
participation in a mentoring relationship; ecumenical exploration;
mission; writing of a faith statement; and discussion of
larger faith issues.”
PRIMARY GOALS OF STUDY
A. God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. (The Triune God,
which we generally refer to as “God”)
Through the Bible, Book of Confessions and other materials
we explore the language our ancestors of faith have used
to identify, name and claim the presence of God, Jesus
Christ
and the Holy Spirit in their lives. We will also listen
to the voices of some contemporary theologians.
Through discussion and mentoring we seek to help the students
consider the presence of God in their own lives and the
lives of those around them. We encourage them to explore
the possibilities and find their own words to express their
understanding of God, at this point of their lives.
B. The Church.
What is the catholic vs. Catholic church? This touches
on the Reformation, denominations, sacraments (baptism
and
communion), mission of the church and discipleship.
We will discuss the importance of ecumenical efforts and
briefly touch on other faith traditions, Jewish, Muslim
etc.
C. Personal Mission Statement
This is a personal expression of his/her understanding
of God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the church and sacraments.
